Earth Day, Maros-Pangkep Nature Lovers Held Rubbish Free Operation

image_ nature lovers cleaned up mount bulusaraungTo celebrate Earth Day on April 22, 2014, Nature Lovers Forum in Maros and Pangkep regencies held an activity entitled “Operasi Bebas Sampah dan Vandalisme” (Rubbish and Vandalism Free Operation) in Mount Bulusaraung. The activity was carried out to keep the environment free of rubbish and vandalism. It involved a number of nature lover organizations supported by the Bulusaraung – Bantimurung National Park. Some of them were: OPA Trans, Bhalank Pa, Dirjapa, Ogan, KPA e Dentong and the staff of Bulusaraung – Bantimurung National Park.

Mount Bulusaraung, 1,900 meters above sea level, located in the border areas of Maros and Pangkep regencies, South Sulawesi – Indonesia, was cleaned up from rubbish by hundreds of nature lovers and volunteers. Besides, they planted about 200 seeds and rearranged hiking/climbing routes.

The Earth Day moment, said one of the committees, was expected to be a moment to increase the awareness and appreciation of human inhibiting this planet, including Mount Bulusaraung and its surrounding areas.
